When Vanessa and John contacted me to set up a time to meet to discuss their wedding photography coverage, I couldn't possibly know how much fun it was going to be. They came to the studio we had some wine, cheese and crackers and discuss what they wanted on their big day. It was an instant click and my wife Jennifer and I were so grateful and happy to be the ones to document these two tying the knot. The ceremony and the reception took place at The Mountain Mermaid, a beautiful oasis in Topanga on the Santa Monica Mountains.
The ceremony was a delight to photograph and to witness. As a surprise to his bride Vanessa, John and some of the select few musician friends among the guests who hid their acoustic instruments, performed Pharrell Williams' Happy to kick it off. Then, we had soliloquies performed by other actor friends among guests. Overall, it was full of creativity, a genuine celebration of love and the happiness expressed for the couple joining their lives together.
The wedding was on the 4th of July, so the couple celebrated that with a special cake as well.
The natural settings of The Mountain Mermaid was begging for a rustic wedding set up!
Following the ceremony, the reception was full of fun, laughter and dancing, including a belly dancer.
