Julie Carmen ~ Steffie

Julie Carmen is an award-winning actress with a career spanning over 30 years. She is currently starring in Dawn Patrol, directed by Daniel Petrie, Jr. opposite Scott Eastwood and Rita Wilson, and will be attending its world premiere at the Austin Film Festival. Carmen describes her character in Dawn Patrol as, "Every woman who loses a child to violence. The film is a "'West Side Story' set among the turf-and-surf wars of 'locals only' beaches", she said. She currently co-stars in the MYRNA TV pilot and has a supporting role in Last Weekend starring Patricia Clarkson.

 

Julie won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the Venice Film Festival for her role in John Cassavetes' Gloria. She starred in movies for directors Robert Redford, John Carpenter, Michael Mann and has studied extensively with Sanford Meisner at Neighborhood Playhouse, Uta Hagen at HB Studio and is currently with Patsy Rodenburg of Guildhall.

 

On the big screen, she's known for her starring roles in Robert Redford's Milagro Beanfield War, John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness, The Penitent opposite Raul Julia and Armand Assante, King of the Jungle opposite John Leguizamo and in the original cult classic Fight Night Part II as vampire Regine Dandridge. On television, Carmen played the female lead in Michael Mann's Emmy nominated NBC mini-series Drug Wars II. She co-starred as the mother of Angelina Jolie's character in the mini-series True Women. She played the female lead opposite Val Kilmer in Gore Vidal's Billy the Kid and opposite George C. Scott in two television movies, Curacao and Finding the Way Home. She is known for her "ahead of its time" role as the sexually insatiable environmentaly revolutionary, Nina on the HBO comedy Dream On.
